Traitor

Netflix instant movies finally supports Mac OS X (perhaps it’s Silverlight 2.0 that does it) so to celebrate it I watched Traitor (actually my wife picked the movie, but promptly fell asleep). This movie got pretty poor reviews (57% on Rotten Tomatoes) and Netflix estimated we’d give it 3.2 stars. Oddly enough, despite a slightly too-neat ending (albeit not as too-neat as the ending I half-expected), it succeeds as perhaps the most intelligent and nuanced movie about terrorism I’ve seen come out of the US since 9/11 — well worth a look. I guess it’s no surprise that US critics didn’t much care for it.

And as a rather odd aside, I noticed that Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin) gets co-credit for the story and and Executive Producer credit.

For what it’s worth, I gave it five stars on Netflix.
